Food Drive brings Kelson residents and staff together and nets big haul for Food Banks!
Residents, staff and company representatives worked together to collect and deliver more than
3500 pounds of non-perishable food items to Community Food Banks across numerous Kelson Group properties in BC and Alberta.
The all-in effort was the first event of its kind for Kelson Group with representation from Edmonton and surrounding communities, Grande Prairie, Prince George, Langley, Abbotsford and Kamloops.
"We have all done different community events at various properties, from small picnics at buildings to larger city-wide events. But we were looking to plan something that could bring people together, where our residents could become involved, too," said Kelly Fawcett, VP of Maintenance and Construction at Kelson Group.
"Food banks provide a vital necessity for many people in the communities where we live and work."
The event was initiated through building managers who set up donation boxes, promoted dates and times of the food drives, and collected and delivered items that were donated from residents to Food Banks. Edmonton and area buildings collected the most non-perishables at more than 1,200 pounds, followed by Langley with 600 pounds, Kamloops with 400, Abbotsford and Prince George each with about 300, and Grande Prairie with 280 pounds.
"We would like to let you know how happy we are about the Kelson Group's Food Drive. We're fortunate that we are not dependant on food banks and appreciate the opportunity to give back to Prince George. Thanks very much."
